Hi and welcome to my blog.
This is my first post on what is a brand new era for me - writing, or rather publishing my writing!
I will build up posts on many topics - such as the inspiration for books or characters, the historical background and anyhting else you may want to know about. So please subscribe or send me a message with any questions you have or information you want.
I am putting the Border Lords Honour through its first proper edit. I have now got all the characters doing what they need to do and in the right order!
I know that for many of you the current state of social distancing and isolation is a shock to the system, and I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
For me, the isolation is not much different to "normal life". Sitting in at my desk in rural Northumberland, where there are propbaly more square miles than people, it is very much usiness as normal.
The only change is not being able to explore and visit the wild half forgotten places in the border hills. It is these locations from which I get my inspiration. The landscape is littered with castle and towers, many now nothing more than ruins.
Walking in the footsteps of people who have gone before certainly lights the imagination.
It is the people that really fuel the fires of creativity - these lands have been the site of perpetual conflict for thousands of years.
Romans, invading Vikings, the Norman conquest and the waring between England and Scotland left a mark, not only on the landscape, but on the people.
These people became known as Rievers or Riding Families, to others they where seen as everything from heroes or scoundrels.
It is into this land that my Weave of Time series descends, where a mans strength lay in his clan and his sword.
There is, of course, a more powerful force.
Love.
Looking at the draft chapter in front of me, the Border Lord, 'Quick' Jack Armstrong, is just discovering that love is stronger than a sword arm.......
